Does anyone know if the mobile midband suppliers in this country ; o2, vodfone, 3 ... will be selling this device

It's basically a battery operated wifi 3g device that you can carry around with you to have wifi wherever you are.

    Here's the link:

    MIFI

This looks like a really cool device

I think Verizon is an EVDO network so the Verizon MiFi wouldn't work in Europe. However, it is a rebranded bit of kit from Novatel and Expansys have the HSDPA version, the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2352 for €254.99.

Cradlepoint have a similar 3G/HSDPA device.

You have to buy your own at full price. But as long as it is 2.1GHz 3G/HSDPA it will work with the Irish operator's SIM.

I made one out of a Linksys WRT54G3G by adding 10V rechargable battery pack and charger internally and fitting the whip aerial inside. A bit bigger. Maplin dual USB PCMCIA card and OpenWRT needed for USB modem support, a PCMCIA or so called Data Card 3G/HSPA modem suits WRT543G better.

I picked up one from a website called MobileX for about 200. It's expensive but my god does it work brilliantly.

Now I can have my iphone and laptop connected to the same mobile broadband. Very easy to setup and speeds on 3 network are coming in at over 2MB/s much faster than using a dongle.

Would highly recommend one cause I love having my own wifi network wherever I go and in the car as well.

    it's called the novatel MIFI

Interesting little gadget, but I'm wondering what real use you'd have for it. I can't think of a situation where I'd need portable WiFi though.

Archos 605WiFi or other larger than phone screen, pocketable wifi only device on the go that you can't add a USB 3G modem to:

    Sony PSP
    Nintendo DS
    Apple iTouch
    Sony Mylo :) ha ha

Still, not a huge value to it.

I have an Archos Series 7 (it's very nice), a PSP and a DSi, but I can't conceive of a situation where I'd need mobile Internet access through Wifi on any of them. Or to put it another way, a situation has never arisen where I've thought "Man, I'd kill for mobile Wifi for my PSP right about now" :pac:

It's still a cool little device, and I'd definitely buy one (reason or not) if I had 230 shekels to spare.

In theory you can add a USB 3G dongle to the 7 or 5,

I could add one to my 605, if the Linux wasn't locked. I have a USB host/battery clip on. It only loads USB devices Archos has deigned to pre-support. It irks me not being able to load ARM linux programs. Opera Widgets (javascript in a zip container) and Flash Programing is the limit of customisation.
