Valuev and Klitschko to meet

    Klitschkos manager denies any deal.

Id say they are in serious talks at the moment and we wont be sure until a deal is signed, but with the way boxing has been lately we'll only be sure when we see them coming out of their corners.

Its a fight Id love to see. 2 of the top heavyweights fought each other recently, and now with vitali and valuev fighting that will only leave 2 top fighters.

Only thing is Id say we will be left with Wlad and Vitali which could mean no unification.

In a way it would be a shame if we are left with the two brothers and no true champion but I'd be okay with the situation(to an extent) if they both kept fighting the top fighters available.

At least at Heavyweight we're now starting to get the fights we need.

    Vitali v Vauev(hopefully)
    Wladamir v Povetkin
    Dimitrenko v Chambers
    Haye v ?
    Arreola v ?

I list Haye and Arreola because they should be fighting before too long.

Recently We've had: Wladamir v Chagaev
    Vitali v Gomez
    Chambers v Peter
    Dimitrenko v

That's the top 10 dealt with, outside of that what we have coming up is(and I'm mainly just relying on boxrec here):
    Fres Oquendo v Mark Brown(June 26th)
    Ray Austin v TBA(July 7th)
    Evander Holyfield v Sammy Retta(July 26th, Ethiopia)
    Chazz Witherspoon v Carl Davis Drumond(July 31st)
    Odlanier Solis v TBA(August 15th)
    Brian Minto v Donnell Holmes(August 14th)
    Oliver McCall v Franklin Lawrence(August 21st)
    Sam Sexton v Martin Rogan(September)
    Shane Cameron v David Tua(Noevember 3rd)

That's a sorry looking site to be fair, but inactivity among Heavyweights is huge and these are the only guys outside the World top 15(who could potentially break into that 15 soon) that are scheduled to fight).

It kind of p*sses me off the fact that Haye is now considered one of the top Heavyweights by a lot of people. I'm not having a go at you Big Ears, it's just that in his 22 fight career (not exactly a long one yet), he's had 1 heavyweight fight! 1! Against someone who'd lost 3 of his last 6 fights.

I think Haye's mouth has gotten him a long way, fair enough he can get the media's attention, but I really don't think he deserves to be listed at the top of the division. At least not until he puts a couple of wins together against credible opponents.

Haye being considered a top HW is a sign of how bad the division is. Apart from the Klitscho's and one or two guys mentioned above the rest are out of shape fat lazy bums.

Another 2-3 fights down the road and both brothers will have no option but to retire.

I'd love to see Toney and Haye go at it.

Toney is rumored to be wanting to return to Cruiser, best of bloody luck James with that!

Valuev and Klit would be some sight for the ages!

James Toney at cruiser ? Please, TKO thinks that James has taken a few to many blows to the head.

Really looking forward to seeing both of these guys in the ring - I think Vitali will stop the beast.

James was "only" 230 lbs in Dec 08 for his last bout, unless he's NOT
been piling on more, which is unlikely, he could give 200 lbs a good shot.

Anyway, Haye-Toney would be an interesting one.

The Toney that beat Jirov would IMO beat any version of Haye

I haven't watched a Toney fight in a long time, but a fit James Toney would outbox Haye 8-10 times

Toney fights in or around 230 and if thats a recent photo then he could realistically lose 30 pounds of fat to make cruiser. Thats without draining weight as well. He could be a healthy 200.

Isnt there an issue with his lifestyle though? Would he have it in him to stick to a diet? Because doing it by the book he could make cruiser and have a fight lined up by late in the year.

Oh, it is definitely THERE to lose, the issue is whether or not JT can
motivate himself and discipline himself to lose it. Motivation and discipline and JT could shed that naturally and in not all that long a time.

It's juts over two stone and giving himself 3 weeks per stone, which is enough, he could be ready to go mid August

I would also imagine that he'd be a better fighter weighing 200-205 than at 230-240.

So, weighing at crusier or slightly above will see him that little bit better and still
    capable of meeting the heavies.

But the truth be known, JT should simply hang em up. He's too old and ring
worn now and he has proved his greatness already!

    !

I take it you didn't see his recent fight. A fight with Haye would be boring. A much more interesting fight would be Haye V Arreola

The Oquendo fight was bad and James took a lot in that. I suppose I would want him to turn back the clock a little and come into the fight a little better prepared a fresh and I think it would be fun.

Yea I think we'd all like to see that, but I seriously doubt it woud ever happen. Toney just never really seemed to have the discipline. What skills though, very very hard to hit. If you haven't read Dark Trade I'd highly recommend it for it's insight into Toney

no doubt Toney was great in his day but he just doesn't have it anymore. if you saw the fight last Friday he was very lucky to get the decision. Haye would easily beat him now. A fight between Arreola and Haye would be good for those who have had enough of the boring heavyweight contests in recent times. Also were Haye to beat Arreola it would give him the platform to say he has earned the right to fight one of the Klitschko's by beating one of the top heavyweight contenders.

Arreloa is not a top HW. Some how he has managed to get this rep and a top HW.

When in fact he is a fat mess only good for shoveling pizza and necking beers.

He won't be beat either of the klitschko's, but in shape he would give Haye a good fight. With the klitchsko's out of the picture for the moment then Haye should face Arreola or Chambers. In your eyes Arreola is not a top heavyweight but if Haye beat him in the eyes of the public he would have beaten someone of repute and earned a shot at the Klitschko's. If Haye can't make a deal to fight Arreola, then he should face Chambers. That way it lends some credibility to his claim to be a top heavyweight- better than beating a shot fighter in Barret then earning a title shot from it.

Did I miss something? Was Toney fighting last Friday?

Sorry my mistake. Last Friday there was a re-run of his fight against Oquendo, on the stream i was watching, before the Pascal v Diaconu fight.
