    Ford $5.9 bn
    Nissan $1.6 bn
    Tesla $465 M

The money is being doled out under the "advanced technology vehicles manufacturing incentive program", and is only available to financially viable companies. This cuts out the GM and Chrysler environmental pigs who already have their black snouts in another financial aid trough!

What about European manufacturers, I ask myself?

The US created the global financial mess by mis-selling junk mortgage securities as "AAA" investment bonds to European and other investors. And the US allowed AIG and others to peddle "insurance" (ie CDSs and similar) that facilitated concealing the problems from balance sheets for so long. If it wasn't for this Anglo-Saxon financial mess, European car manufacturers would have adequate internal funding to push the developement of their own green car programmes. Accordingly the US gov should be offering similar funding to BMW, Mercedes-Benz, VW Group, Fiat, and others that qualify!
