Changing college mid-degree ... ?!

    Soo I'm going to UCD in september and it's kinda hit me with this whole recession thing that if I loose my job, I can't live in dublin... :| not that I won't but for peace of mind can you change college mid degree ? Like could I go down to ucc for my second year.......does anyone know ?

    you sure can, I've seen a few people do it.
    you would need to make sure that you cover the prerequisites for the relevant course in the new college - i.e. that they accept the other college's 1st year as being a qualifier for the new one's 2nd year.

    Yep, you can do it. My friend was in dublin for two years and transferred to Cork for his third year and is going into his fourth year there now.

    Ring the college and check it out though, it depends on your course!

    Most Colleges do allow for inter-college transfers mid-degree so long as you are transferring between similiar courses and are not in the 1st year of your degree as all places on first year programs (aside from Mature Students) are assigned solely by the CAO, from 2nd year on, it is the decision of the College/University/I.T.

    Oh that's grand so :) I'm gonna be doing french and english in UCD, but all I gotta do is stave off unemployment for 2 years and then I'll be in poverty in france for a year, thanks a bunch !
