    Hey,

I'm in the market for a hybrid bike. It'd be mainly for recreation use. Couple of evenings a week and if I'm feeling fit the odd cycle to work, 30K return.

Anyway a 2nd Claud Butler Legend has come available in a local bike shop for e150:

I'd prefer a more sporty bike so if I went with this I'd probably have the carrier and perhaps the mudguards removed.

Anyone have this bike or any Claud Butler Hybrid? Are they good bikes?

    Thanks

To be honest, it's hard to get excited about them.

Is €150 your budget? You don't usually get much bike for that. The rule of thumb for cheap bikes is if it seems too good to be true, then it's probably too good to be true.

Suggest you shop around a bit more. If a hybrid is your thing claud butler have some better models. As far as I know, Specialized Globe range of hybrids are reasonable and good at the price, but their wheels are usually rubbish (speaking from experience of predecessor, the 'Crossroads').

If you do want to enjoy the odd recreational ride as well as the occasional 30km round trip to work, consider investing a bit more time and money into your search. If you find the right bike, you'll be hooked, and back on here in 6 months to a year looking for advice on the best singlespeed / fixed gear / road bike for urban commute / Wicklow 200.:)

Thanks for the reply. My budget would probably go to e300 and ya it's kinda difficult to get excited about that bike.

Here's another one which I hope to view:
