Noticed a gadget type shop in galway has a large sign saying "beat the ban", i know these new laws are coming soon but i don't know what laws or when, are we losing our option of importing Airsoft devices on the 1st of july as i've read/heard or whats happening? I had planned on buying a gbb from redwolf this week but now i'm unsure that if i do it will be destroyed or something, can anyone clarify this for me?

The Miscellaneous Provisions Bill hasnt been passed into law yet, but I believe from my reading of it, and the fact that it deals with real firearms licensing, it HAS to be passed by the end of the current Dail term. Something about all current licenses expiring, or somesuch. I'm not sure of the details.

I've seen a few shops and some retailers using the new laws for some time as a sales technique, seems to have picked up since the draft was published, seen a large amount of scare mongering un fortunately, but as tony said i think the bill has to be passed in the near future, remember airsoft is only a small part of a massive bill, its hard to hear but I'm afraid we are not that important, i can see it being passed in the next month or so, and then the small print has to be done, e.g requirements for the license, things that are covered under rifs in Ireland etc etc

Scaremongering by the worst type of crap peddlers who know for damn sure they won't meet the new criteria for a licence to sell airsoft, eg., scruples of nay description.

Hopefully the MJB will be rendered far more sensible, as in its current proposed form its likely to damage the sport, and thats what the scaremnogers are exploiting, but what they wont mention is that it will likely be a lot less intrusive on out sport with some input from the community.

Ehh, to further what Shiva said, think there may be a rush put on it because IIRC all the RS Pistol licences a renewed at the end of July. The Dept. wants them gone(which is stupid as all the guns used in crime arent licenced, but anyways) so rather than letting them renew then saying no, we've changed our mind, hand them in, they can just prevent renewal.

*This is from memory, may be a bit off.

I must call in there tomorrow. They actually have a decent selection of stuff and minimal amounts of those poxy springers whose laser/torch/gimp accessories weigh more then the gun they come with, unlike most gadget shops. Some nice pistols. They were a little expensive, but with a sale they might be OK.
