Is there money to be made?

For example, what sort of money would a site like Discogs be spending/taking in each year roughly? Is it really profitable or more of a hobby of someone's that has branched out and lots of people avail now with little or no expense. Do they get a cut of any sale's through the site? Also, the images used on the site, are there no copyright issues here?

    Thanks.

You will be in a market with Beatport, Juno.co.uk, Itunes, Amazon and others. A tough market I would say. Unless you have an USP that diffrenciates you from these you may be too late to try this as the big ones already have economies of scale. Also you marketing budget would have to be huge.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm just curious about the whole thing to be honest. What about the copyright issue?

No copyright issue, those legitimate companies have contracts with the relevant distributors.

Discogs is a record store and with the decline in vinyl over the last few years im sure there profits would be dropping year on year even over the last year most of the major vinyl distributors have gone bust. If youre talking about digital distrubution i know track it down recive one pund from every sale for 1.49 and the label/producer recieves 49p. i think discogs charge th seller a percentage of the sale havnt used it in a while but it was pretty low from what i remember
