    Hi guys

What form of ID is acceptable when you are withdrawing money from across the counter in a bank?

Had to order a new ATM card but need to make a withdrawal.

    Thanks.

Has to be photo ID. Drivers License or Passport is usually acceptable

Thanks. Thought as much. Would a Garda ID do? It's photo.

Depends on the Bank staff, the requirement for ID is to protect your account from some miscreant walk in and stealing your money.

I remember (lot time ago) walking in to my branch, could not remember the account no, and asking for some money and getting it, but the teller i was dealing with knew me. Now my old branch is a Centra store and don't know anyone one in a bank, damm internet.

Some places will not take Garda ID, since there is a perception that it is easy to get one with a false name/photo/DOB.

Cheers. I was thinking this myself. I would know the recent history on the account also as I have the old Internet banking.

Sure I'll give a go anyway.
