Long-distance renewals don't work

I knew I'd do this. I borrowed some books from the Hamilton for summer planning to renew them every week online for as long as possible. Naturally I forgot to do it yesterday so said literature is now overdue, and unfortunately with me 200km from Dublin.

Don't want to* pay €20 for a bus journey up and back, don't want to* leave fines amass from now until I can hitch a lift up there, so I'm left with option C (unknown). I was thinking maybe ring them up to explain and hope they exhibit mercy - or maybe email - but can't find any library-specific contact details on the site. Come to think of it, do they even have phones in the library? They'd have to fine themselves....anyway I think I am digressing - can anyone suggest anything? Thanks.

    *can't

Something similar happened to me with a load of chemistry books when I was in first year, and a phonecall to the librarians sorted it all out. However, I tried it again a few months ago and it didn't fly at all. It's definitely worth a shot, though.

they do have phones in there too.. Dunno where you'd get the number.. Think theres a link to a pdf phone book in the staff finder....

It worked! Yeah, the number was in the staff finder. I rarely achieve anything this early in the morning. Thank you both kindly. Same time next week?

Online renewals don't work when the book goes overdue. As the Library will not renew books over the phone, your only option now is to return the books as soon as you can - otherwise your fines will just keep building up.

You can do this in person, or get someone else to drop them into the Library for you, or post them up (remember you are responsible for the books until they are returned to the library - so if they go astray in the post you will have to replace them).

Amazingly, you will find the contact details for the Library on the Library webpage - www.tcd.ie/library .

Guess they made an exception given the circumstances, which was nice, they didn't have to.

Could it be?! I did see that, but figured I wasn't trying to renew the Book of Kells, this time, and wanted to get on directly to my homies in the Hamilton. I admit to flaws in my reasoning.

Cheers for replying, I wouldn't have thought of posting them although Guyton & Hall alone would probably have needed its own bus ticket up.
