    Hey all,
After trawling through the dell website and various other sites i am still none the wiser as to what laptop i should purchase. Im sure one of you guys/girls will be able to point me in the right direction!I did i search but couldnt find anything recent.

    My budget is around €450-500.

Il be using it for college work, music and surfing the net

Screen size isnt important to me just dont want something massive.

Is it better to buy say from the dell factory shop or another online shop or would i be better going into an actual shop?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

If you trawl through the many previous discussions on this site, you will see mixed reviews of Dell. What I take from that is that Dell machines are a bit hit and miss.

    I recommend this: http://www.dabs.ie/products/lenovo-n500-pdc-t3400-3gb-250gb-dvd-rw-dl-15-4--vistahp-5GKR.html

It has 2Ghz Clock Speed, 3GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive Capacity, and loads of other stuff except BluRay. Seems to be within your price range and it'll do what you specified. Seems to have a one-year guarantee. It's a Lenovo, a Chinese company that bought out IBM's laptop manufacturing division, so you would be getting IBM reliability.

Take a look at other threads on this site, which have recommended dabs.ie.

I have seen this laptop for sale in Expert stores for €579 - but they were throwing in an accessory bundle, including a printer.

Thanks for the advice there Mustard.
That laptop looks perfect for my needs. However in the place where my mum works they got in a lot of lenovo laptops and have been having some problems.
Apparantly the touch pads on a lot of them have started giving trouble? Is this a common issue with lenovo's or were they just unfortunate?
