do any of you bunny bashers or fox shooters use the gen 1 night vision bin's or minoculars ? i had one about 15 years ago and it was unbelieveably poor , just wondered if they have improved any , i know the rifle scopes are illegal, but i wouldn't mind getting a pair of binoculars etc for security use if they're improved any .

I'd say generally they have improved a lot,i have several Rus night vision monoc's and they work very well,IR illumination makes a huge difference,i use for deer watching.

depending on which generation you buy depends on quality, 15 years ago ud have been using generation 1, they are shocking really ! Big and heavy. Now a days there sold as the cheapist option of the lot. Generation 2 is better, some can come wit an IR illuminator that enhance the view and there use but they are considerable more expensive than gen 1. Gen 3 and 3+ is generally so expensive that it is only available to military and some if not most of the 3+ is restricted to military only

i did see a gen 3 minoc years ago and it was amazing it'd want to be considering it cost £5,000 at the time , gen 1 is probabily all i will be able to afford unless the celtic tiger returns from the dead , is gen 1 any good if se some sort of ir illumination ?
like i said i'd be for security use , having trouble at times with "tourists" you know the kind .

Not sure whats available here to be honest, gen 1 is fine for messin around with and reliable, all my gen 1 have IR,simular effect as lamp but only visable as a red dot at source,i've had gen 1 that are good to 400m but cheap simple setup would be good to 60/80m again IR makes gen 1 perform, dont expect to see clearly no matter which gen you have
ebay might be good place to have a look
