apologies for the noob questions. I was hoping to give windows 7 an extended run on my acer aspire one netbook I found some instructions on how to install it from a usb drive (here)

    http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=9799

Just wondering if this will wipe my xp os and my files and folders etc. or will this allow me to run both xp and windows 7 on the netbook?

    Thanks

You can set it up to have both 7 and xp side by side. You need to create a second partition and install windows 7 on that.

You can do either. You can erase your existing OS and install Windows 7 on it, or if you partition your drive (shrink your existing partition and make a second one) then you can install it to a second partition and have a Dual-boot setup, where when you start, you can choose one or the other.
