I have just returned from a Sunday/Monday offer break in Glasson and just had to say what a great break it was:D

From the moment we arrived - 10:30 Sunday morning - we were made to feel very welcome. We were to tee off at 11:50 and the starter was a really pleasant man who apologised in advance for what was going to be a slow round:D. This was due to a full time sheet and a few slower players.... we didnt mind as we were on our hols!!!

I had played the day before to try to implement some advice from my lesson on the previous tuesday..... it was horrendous:eek:, so it was with trepidation that I stepped onto the first tee in Glasson. I need not have worried as the drive was straight and true! Anyway..... I digress..... Suffice to say I really enjoyed the course and played better than I have for ages. The course being quite forgiving was a major help to the enjoyment. To cut a long story short... unlike the round:D:D ...... the course was simply fabulous!!! The weather was great too which was a bonus. We played again on Monday and had a much quieter round...... even had the course super drive over to us on the second green to ask us if the aeration was spoiling our day;). Talk about attention to detail!!
Needless to say the greens were so good that it didnt have any noticable effect.... to us high handicappers! I even managed to only have 1 3 putt over the two rounds.
Getting back to the Hotel.... we really liked the rooms and the general feeling.... As I said the staff were really friendly and helpful but not too familiar. We had dinner on monday night in the Wineport Lodge.... just around the corner of the lake from the hotel..... made famous by "The Restaurant" programme on RTE... or so I'm told
It was not what I would call cheap but the food/service and setting was excellent:):):).
I would highly recommend this short break to any of you golfers out there. I know the hotel has a gym/sauna etc but we did not see/try them so I cannot comment.....

It cost us approx €490 for 2 nights B & B, 1 evening meal and two great rounds of golf - for two people that is!!
