Ok,here goes.I was made redundant in the last couple of weeks.I have around 12 yrs experience in industry.I'm what they call "QBE".I graduated in marketing and found my way into accountancy as I actually liked what I was doing and was also good at it by virtue I had been trained by some very good accountants.Didn't do the professional exams(BIG MISTAKE and REGRET) as I didn't want to study anymore. The current climate has now made me realize that I should've knuckled down and got them.I've deceided with the backing of the wife and family(my wife said she'll leave me if I don't get my letters!) that I'm going to use my redundancy to study for the next 2 years through BPP.My plan is to sit my CBE in january.(I am exepmt from all papers except Fin and mgmt accounting).I feel now is the time to do some study,in a way I'm looking forward to it!It's far more important to me now to pass as many papers as possible to secure my career in the next years or so.I'm looking forward to visiting the thread now and again to get tips/info on various things. It would also be interesting to hear other people in the same boat as myself and how they are approaching studying again and exams.

    thanks all.:)

you are definitely donig the right thing but i think you should try some expectation management with the wife as that is a very serious penalty she is threatening. I am following pretty much the same route (but i was exempt a few at the start) and my only advise is not to commit yourself exclusively to one college as while BPP have some outstanding lecturers the also have ssome average ones. Independent and DBS also have some great individuals but you may be able to do some of the early subjects with home study and hang on to some of that redundancy money.
    Best of luck with it!!
