Advice on TT bike

Im planning to reward myself with a TT bike in the new year. Ive been doing progressively well throughout the summer with my race times, and am planning to structure a good winter training schedule. Given that I thought it would be worth investing in a TT bike for next season. Im totally obsessed with tri and really want to be competitive next season. So Im wondering is it worth it?Im riding a BH standard road bike at the moment with tri bars. Im also presuming that I might be able to get an 08 model in the sales reckoned the entry level Giant Trinity looked like a good start, either that or would it be worth looking for a higher spec 2nd hand bike, there seems to be a good flow of them in and out of my local store

Depends on the bike I suppose, and whether or not my work will do the bike to work scheme, if they do Id have up to 2k

To answer your question, I'd say yes it is worth it if you want to go faster. I would also factor in the need to get a decent wheelset (although you can always upgrade). I can't speak for the Giant, but, yes, 2nd hand could through up good value provided you know the bike has had a good home. The strength of the euro against the £ means that you might be able to get some good deals online from UK suppliers - although not sure if C2W scheme will allow you to purchase from UK.

I've had my TT bike for 2 years (PX Stealth) and it's served me well. If I were to upgrade I'd probably look at an old cervelo frame and transfer all the gubbings across.

Yeah I was hoping that I could find something that was a good base that could be upgraded as I improved. I plan to put in a lot of training over the winter, so would be nice to have the extra speed from a good bike at the end of it

Probably worth posting on the Cycling forum - more bike nerds enthusiasts over there and plenty of expertise in TT...

Keep an eye here http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/shbikes.asp#, you could pick up a 2nd hand belter.
