    Greetings to All,

Needing a new pair of boots. I got a pair of the Adidas Predator PowerPulse's when July 2008 and are in rag order. Did anyone else find this aswell? and why do they break up so much?

Anywho, im thinking of going back to the Adidas World Cup's. Has anyone any other suggestions. FYI, i dislike ridiculous colours on boots.

    Cheers,
    SM

Does it really matter. It's not like boots are performance enhanching in rugby! the way they are in soccer. I have a pair of plain black nike boots think they were 35 euro two years ago and are still fine!

I might have the same Nike ones, third season now I'm playing in them and not even one tore. As I play centre I like to side-step so the grip on them is good but not too hard on the old feet to get blisters. I believe it is because there is plenty of studs and they are short, not long.

Personally I love Puma Kings, there very soft and comfortable. I find Adidas too narrow so the Puma's work better for me. Remember Puma Kings are made from kangaroo leather, so they will stretch to fit your feet.

Surprising that your getting blisters in "Moldies", I'm assuming you have boots with lots of short studs which cannot be changed. These are generally more comfortable when pitches are hard. "Studies" are the traditional ones with 6-8 long studs. These provide more grip but on hard ground they will cause more blisters.

Predators (Well the €200 ones) are made from kangaroo leather as well so they stretch a bit too. Got a pair 2 years ago now and they are in alright nick. although probably would replace with the same again over the summer.

If its particularly wet, I wear Nike Tiempos from 3/4 years ago. Those boots take some beating and have good long studs if conditions are very slippy on the top layer of grass/mud. With kicking, I do find I lose about 10 yards with the Nike's though. And that is accounting for the fact conditions are crap when I wear them. Still its worth it, considering as a 15 I tend to have to turn quickly more often than I have to kick the leather off the ball.

Yeah I play inside centre, which does mean that kicking is not a huge part of my game and I find the nikes very durable have a pair with molded studs for the hard pitches and screw in's for the winter!

Not last time I checked but you never know as I probably wouldn't be the best person to give a subjective view on that! :)

Yeah think there the ones I have with the screw in studs.
Do you really believe the boot makes that much difference in distance when kicking? I have always thought that was bollox when it came to rugby and it's all about timing!

I had a pair of Nike Tiempos that only lasted a year. But maybe that was because they had a synthetic upper. I presume leather is much longer lasting.

Looking for a new pair of boots as well. Was thinking about these - Adidas 915 111 boots specially designed for speed & manouvrability (I'm a winger). They seem like good value - anyone have any advice on them???

I find the ones with the 8 longer full-metal studs a lot heavier than 6 metal-tipped stud variants. Though they probably offer more grip, of course.

my reason for asking is i play fly half and the boot is my main weapon being honest about it.

the adidas world cup boots are made of kangaroo leather too... ive found i get an extra 10meters or so with the predators which is bizarre, maybe its some kind of placebo effect. particularily with my kicking technique i approach side on for place kicks which means i take full advantage of the rubber on the inside.

does anyone else have a totally unreasonable hatred for mulitcoloured boots? the ones vincent clerc and cedric heymans wear..the flurescent orange and green ones p!ss me right off. very thin yokes altogether i doubt they offer much protection nor stability....thoughts?

By the way the nike store in Kildare Outlet village is great value for boots usually about 40 euro a pair cheaper than champion sports!
