The Curragh which is 2 miles from Newbridge is the best training ground you could want. There's a good loop on the far side of the motorway that runs parallel to the motorway (towards Kildare), turn left when you hit the road that leads to the barracks and then back along by the pitches. You can make it as long a run as you want!

Apart from that there is a grass track in Newbridge out towards the train station but you'd get bored running around in circles....

Cheers man, but not from the town. If i were to get to the roundabout at the top of the town where would i go from there. Curragh would be handy alri as i recently joined the standhouse gym! Thanks again!!

Unless there's a new roundabout in Newbridge since I moved away, I take it you mean the roundabout out at the N7 interchange by the Curragh racecourse? (i.e. out past the Ceadeen hotel)

From there, go across the motorway, take the 3rd road off the next roundabout, across the cattle grid, and you'll see a rough parking area. A lot of people would then follow a reasonably visible track that goes parallel to the motorway, all the way to the road by all the gorse bushes, turn left and then follow a grass trail back along by the edge of the Curragh barracks. Basically there's endless running.

It's a lot easier to run on that side of the Curragh than on the side the racetrack is on. I think there might be areas up past the Standhouse as well off to the right but never investigated.

    Enjoy!
