    Any suggestions on what is the best type of exercise to do when not running, with a view to helping improve running performance?

    alot of athletes use ski machine in gyms to compliment their running or train while injured. however there is no subsititute for getting out there clocking up them miles

    I'd suggest perhaps getting together a 40-minute stretch & core stability routine and perhaps some light weights. You'll run all the better for having a body in better general condition.
