I'm a comuter normally on a bike but am thinking of doing a charity cycle from Kilkenny to Carlow round trip on August 29th for the Irish Wheelchair Association. Thing is I moved house and live right by the train station, whereas before cycling was the quickest way for me to get work and I cycled about 50mins a day now the train is quicker so more often than not I've been lazy and shunned my bike. I'm probably pretty unfit at the moment and I'm wondering if I start tomorrow will I be in good enough shape to do the approx 60km round trip??? I've never tried to cycle this far before either - what do you think??

you'll easily be up to 60km by the end of august, that's 8 weeks away. It should be around a 3 hour cycle, give or take, if you were already doing 50mins a day you will easily be capable of reaching 3 hours. get back on the bike, the weather is glorious at the moment!

shouldn't be a problem, just get out cycling soon and get plenty of relaxed miles in(don't try push it, should get home feeling good rather than shattered tired)

You will be fine. Just do it!!. The people I realy admire are the ones like yourself that can do a one off marathon challenge without all the ballyho.

    yes you will:)

but the more you train the more fun youll have. I dont mean using the train but train on the bike, not putting the bike on the train but train cycling the bike instead of using the train which isnt training.... savvy?
