Attic insulation query

We've just finished a new build and despite all the storage in the house I'm still going to commit the crime (from day 1) of putting stuff in the attic instead of biting the bullet and firing it in the bin.

Its a cold attic with 250mm fibreglass insulation laid between the joists. The insulation rises about 3" above the joists. I'd like to floor a section of the attic before putting boxes in and my question is will the compression of this area of insulation have a huge impact on the overall performance? I'm thinking in terms of around 8-10m2 floored of an overall area of about 90m2

    Cheers,
    SWJ
