    My Guess!

Reverb with a high pre delay
Phaser/flanger of some sort on the vocal
    Gritty distortion on the vocal
    Delay on the vocal
    Harmonizer on vocal
Sounds like his mic is going through some sort of gritty compressed pedal.

This is just a guess I could be way off by a long shot <:)>

An incarnation of this I would guess

Yes, he has a nice studio in Holborn London with a Neve Console. He records in Logic as I recall.

I just got a 'partial' reply from Andy Gill.

"Vox - all vocals were double tracked and I cut them up so it was very tight , not really sounding doubled . A lot of the ‘fx’ was just pushing jazz to go to ridiculous ends with his voice - exagerating everything , rasping , hissing , cackling , screaming . Just showing the demented basterd in his true colours . I also did a lot of time stretching as an effect. Apart from that , touch of distortion and hi-pass."

I guess he's referring here to the overall approach taken to vocals on that album. There's no mention of the 'echo' fx - though I have asked him to clarify.

really appreciate it that you even asked him....thanks a mill.....if you are talking to him again in the future i'd love to know how he got that killer snare sound on that album.....prob just the grohl animal doing his thang....but still curious....

    thanks again :)
