    payments can be backdated with good reason at the discretion of the deciding officer, but not for a period exceeding 6 months. (The most you'll get is 6 months, but you might not get anything)

    You should apply first thing tomorrow.

    they usually only back pay to the date you first applied. They will want to know how you supported yourself since november so you should take any evidence of savings you've used up.
    I didn't apply for rent allowance for 6 weeks after i went on back to education allowance and the cwo grilled me about how i could afford the rent then and not 6 weeks later.

    Go to your local office asap and sign on.
