Noob help with Warlock

Hi, so I got the free 10 day WoW trial to see what I thought of it and so far I'm loving it but I really am clueless. i just got to lever 10 and I now get to put talents into affliction, demonology or destruction. Now I was just looking for info on what the advantages and disadvantages of each of these and to know if there is a best or worst specialisation. Also is it better to go strictly into one specialisation or to get a broad range of things from the 3 of them.

Another thing when I'm at the warlock trainers learning new spells can I learn every single spell there once I have the cash and just replace whats not necessary anymore or is there a limit to how much spells I can learn.

Also last question I think,is there anyway for me to fast travel from one island to another because my friend decided to give this a try with me but his fav character is a night elf so he started off over in andrasill I think it's called whereas I'm a human so am on the opposite end of the world. If there is no way to fast travel whats the quickest way to get there?

Thanks in advance for any help I get I realise this is probably pretty painful to read for experienced wow gamers and any general tip or advice on playing Warlock like best spell combos or whatever you can think of would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

Edited just to ask if abbreviations could be kept to a minimum There half the reason I get confused trying to look this stuff up.

Generally its better to stick to one talent tree, as the higher up you get in one, the more powerful spells/abilities you'll get access too. For levelling, i'd recommend Demonology. Pets are are brilliant fun, and they get much tougher in this tree.

Any spells that are listed in green are ones that you can buy. Get them all, as you'll more then likely use them at some stage, and you need to buy each level of the spell as you gain levels yourself. The spells should automatically update on your toolbar, so no need to do it manually (although checking is always a good idea)

Unless you can get a warlock to summon you or a Mage to portal you, your running. Its not too bad though. The worst part is the run through Menethil/Wetlands. If your on a server with any boardsies, you might get them to help you out too.

Thanks for the help both of you. I tried running but being level 10 I only get so far before the creatures kill me with one swipe:(. So is demonology mainly to improve the pets? If so I like the sound of that but do you know what sort of style or advantages the other specialisations give you? I'm on a server called terokkar sp? Oh and that abbreviations page is a god send:D

Since Wrath came out (well, technically patch 3.0), the suicide dash though Wetlands is no longer necessary. The Auberdine boat now travels to/from Stormwind. So you can get to either Darkshore or Elwynn with ease and level together.

Yeh was just gonna post that niskia

And also complain that they have dumbed the game down so much that the run isnt a rite of passage anymore!

damn kids dont know theyre born.... :)

Another tip: pick up your professions now while your leveling, sure beats doing it when your a higher level. Check out the thotbot/wowwiki/wow forums to decide which one is for you, and which professions compliment each other.

Hey samurai Welcome to the wonderful world of WoW.

You mentioned in your post that you had looked up some info about warlocks. Unfortunatly i dont play warlocks so i cant really help. What i can do is suggest 2 sites to you if you dont already know about them, the first is called WoW wiki

    http://www.wowwiki.com/Portal:Main

When i first started playing WoW it was my bread and butter it helped me immensely pages upon pages of info about the game, races classes skills talent builds etc if you dont know about it its worth checking out.

If you need help with quests (stuck on where to go) you can use a site called thotbot

    http://thottbot.com/

Type the name of the quest into the search engine and it will bring you up details of the quest and user comments that people have left on how to complete the quest. some of the articles even come with screenshots on where to go.

I'd suggest maybe posting your character name and server your playing on in the WoW server/character name thread at the top of this form. You can check that thread to see if there are any boardies on the server your playing on that might be able to help out if your stuck.

Its well worth upgrading the account once your ten days are up. I got hooked into WoW that way too i got the 10 day free trial and on day 4 went out and bought the full game.

Good luck and enjoy the game If you have any questions just post them here. I've found that folks around here are allot more friendly than on the WoW forms when it comes to asking questions.

Can i suggest an addon called Cabonite, just google it.
Its like quest helper only a lot better, trust me it speeds up levelling hugely.

For levelling go affliction all the way imo.

I would also recommend affliction for levelling, its a lot easier i found.

Just put your dots (damage over time spells) up and watch them die:D

Agreed, Questhelper or something similiar is a must for lvling fast and easy. I only got it when i came back to WoW a few months ago, and it made life so much easier and cut out that constant checking the map every 2 mins trying to find where ur quest starts or ends.

Thanks for all the help here people. Some really useful tips, advice, websites etc.

I'm level 17 now and going towards affliction because I feel it suits my own playstyle(CoA,Corruption,Immolate,This keeps they're attention off me I'll then follow this up with stabbing usually or else drain soul or shadowbolt depending if either is needed). Have the 5 corruption,2 CoA talents and to my regret I put my first talent point into imp improvement thought it was for all pets:o. So should I get a few talents from the other tree like improving my immolate maybe or is it better to stick purely with affliction?

Also call me paranoid but when random lvl 80s or other high rankin people add me is this some sort of trap scam? also when prople ask me to randomly group....Oh and today a lvl 13 offered me 5 gold to help him with a quest now I'd help people if I could and wouldnt want anything in return but the fact he's lvl 13 and was offering that much gold made me wary so I ran away:pac: Anyone care to confirm my fears or else to let me know if these things are ok.

Again thanks for the help appreciate it.

Does happen a bit alright. I was offered 15g for an sfk boost by a level 13. Its easy enough to get gold these days tbh. Most low level gathering profs (mining, herbing, skinning) get you stuff that sells for a good bit. I had near 300g by the time i hit 25 on my druid :-P

People do random invites for guilds. And its usually some guy trying to form a guild, to get their own guild bank. When im on my random alt's i always accept for no payment, Cause me and my friend done this already. I spent 5k gold a week ago buying bank tab's for my guild.

As for random invite's to group's, it's generally people looking to group up to do dungeons/quest's/instance's.

People also offer gold for boost's in quest's and especially dungeon's. If im in stormwind and not doing anything and i seen someone looking for a boost in the stockade's, i usually oblige for no gold - reason being is because it take's me under 10 min's on my DK (lvl 69).

Some people in WoW are all about the gold, while other's are more than happy to give free boost's.

Saying that, dont ever give random's any detail's of your account or loan/give them money.
