I will be officially unemployed after next Friday. Just wondering during the process of waiting to get approved for JSB do you need to sign on WEEKLY or MONTHLY or what? Also is it necessary to be present in the social welfare office when making an application?

This will be difficult for me as I will be moving out of my apartment and moving back to my parents house and doing other related stuff. Because of this I am finding it hard to get time to get to the office as the opening times are limited.

while you're waiting to be approved, you actually don't sign on.

when you are approved, you usually sign on monthly at the SW office and collect your payment weekly at the PO.

You can't apply until your job finishes anyway so first thing monday morn make time to get to the local office. Make sure you have all relevant info with you so you won't have to go back. You have to be present - its a jobseeker benefit so they expect that you are available during day time hours.
