98 1.3 Fiesta trouble

    Hey there,
The g/f's 98 fiesta broke down the other day on the m50, going along grand, then a repetitive ticking sound, followed by no power and the car switching itself off. Was completely out of water, let it cool down and then filled it back up with water after a couple of hours, managed to get it back to the gaff but seems to be loosing water but no leaks underneath it I don't think. Cut out a good few times trying to get it back to house. Anyone any ideas what it could be? Or any recommendations for a garage/mechanic out Kinsealy/Malahide way? Doesn't seem to want to drive but will start and tick over itself, seems to cut out when I try to drive it?

    Cheers.

It may be time to cut your losses and get something else rather than spending money on this one.

Really? Any ideas what might be up with it? Its only used as a run around really, 3/4k miles a year..

could be anything from a head gasket to water pump to a leak or all/none of the above. Best to find a mechanic and get some idea as to what it'll cost to put right.
