Squash Prices South Dublin

    I've recently started playing squash in UCD who are charging €13 for 40 minutes. This is an increase of around 6-7 euro in the past couple of years. Does anyone know anywhere with more reasonable prices on the southside?

    3 euro for 40 min with us .were hoping to do a offer of the use of the well equipped gym ,sauna ,squash court for a 100 euro a year.

    its 15 euro an hour in the spawell, it can be very busy in the evenings, they only have 2 courts so you nearly have to book a week in advance
    there are some courts over ballfermot was, i think its 12 euro for 40mins
    can anyone play at ucd? what are the courts like , have you the number for booking?

    Yeah anyone can play there. 13 for 40 mins for public. Costs less if your a student or staff member. Courts are in good condition. Need to book early though Monday - Friday though as it can be busy.

    Was in Arklow at the weekend, had a game in the leisure club there. Absolute kip. Courts are gone to hell. The wall is hollow in places so ball hardly comes back

    the spawell is fairly rubbis too, holes in the walls, the floor is not attached to the ground underneath that well, and generally dirty, i ve been playing there on and off for 15yrs , and they ve not once painted the place

    Not sure how often you're looking to play but Sandycove Squash club is currently expanding.

    There's a yearly membership but once you join it's only €4 an hour. With that you get the added bonus of leagues, opponents, club nights etc. The courts are in good condition too.

    i ve been playing for about 15years now , never played in any competitions, i dont even know how a match works, we just play 1st to 9 points and you must win the games by 2 points clear, and see how many games we get in for an hour
    played 5 or 6 people of the years only one ever played it in competitions and leagues,it would be fun to test out my game within a league,although i might look a bit funny showing up with my running trainers,what ball do they use?we use the big blue ones,it makes points last a bit longer and its a better cardio work out we find, i ve used the slower balls too though

    In the Leinster leagues and our club leagues we use a double yellow spot ball, but if youre happy playing with the blue one then why change. Whatever suits your game.

    Scoring-wise too, its to suit yourself. In the leagues and competitions Irish Squash have changed the rules so that we now use American scoring. You play up to 11 (win by two points) and you score a point whether youre serving or not.

    I cant talk for the other clubs around, but as long as you wore non marking soled shoes, played with a squash racket and used a squash ball, you wouldnt be out of place in Sandycove. We've players of all standards, shapes and sizes.
