Spend my EUR 1000 for me

Hi, I know this thread has been done before but this one is a bit more specific. My wife's work had just introduced the cycle to work scheme - so I was wondering what opinions people here have on how to spend the money (really its about 900 cause I might try to wrangle a nice pair of bib shorts out of it!). I am looking at the Focus Cayo 105 from wiggle but am wondering if we would be better getting a woman-specific build. My wife is 4'11'' so sizing really does matter. I know really we should go to the LBS but they are all a couple of hundred Euro more expensive than online.
    Thanks

Slightly unusual suggestion, but something like this might be worth considering.

They seem to have put a lot of thought into speccing the components (cranks, levers etc) for small people, and the frame looks quite versatile.

edit: this was the response when I asked them about the suitability of this for my short-arse wife:
Thank you for your interest in our bikes.

Our bikes are designed to suit the proportions of a growing child which are often quite different to an adult of small stature. However, assuming your measurements are accurate, in your wife’s case, I think she will fit the Luath 700 Small well. You may need to fit a slightly longer handlebar stem, depending on her preference, but apart from that it should be fine.

Bikes leave here within about 4 days of receipt of order. We can ship bikes up to Beinn 24 size to Dublin but not any larger. We can ship a Luath to the North, do you know anyone there who could receive a parcel for you? The shipping price there is just £24.00.

You can place an order over the phone during office hours.

    Best regards,

    Isla Rowntree.

Just transfer the funds to my account, I'll take care of the rest!

4'11" means you really would want to go with a woman specific geometry, the smallest cayo at 50cm would still be too big for her.

Worldwidecycles in Clonmel stock the Specialized Dolce bikes (here)

It's a good starting point. You will need far more accessories than just a pair of bib shorts, that 1000 euro will disappear pretty quick!

Cool, let us know how you get on with that - I'm determined to get my wife on a proper bike sooner or later. :)

I am 5' nothing - i am TALLER than your wife ( woohoo I rarely get to say that at all )

I ride 44 women specilic bike a Ruby Pro Specialized - that size would fit her perfect.

    Something like ->

the Dolce Comp in a 44 ( or that other Dolce that's a buit cheaper too )
    the Felt ZW30 in a 45
    the Trek 1.2 (men) in a 43 ( i have a Trek 1000 that size that fit perfect )

And your wife needs short as well as you, and i recomment the castelli women specific shorts that are very comfy indeed.

Yeah my friend's girlfriend is a 5-footer and tried Lyders' 48cm Giant, it was way too big for her.
