    I'll be making a tremendously rare appearance in this tournament. Smurph, does 20:30 really mean 21:10?

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,858 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

    Nope, it means 20:30, or possibly 20:37. It has got a lot better in the last year wrt start times. People showing up on time though, has not really got better.

    Seriously, cards in air no later than 20:40

    They are working hard on trying to get tournaments started on time, and this is their busiest one by far

    Any results - such as
    How many played ?
    Who made the final table and who got what as regards the prize pool.
    When did it finish.

    There was about 30 left when I exited at 1:30am from 100 starters.

    Wasn't to be for myself:

    - got set over setted at the 150 / 300 / 25 level for a decent sized pot;
    - was left with 1050 chips, doubled up to 10BBs and grinded that 10 - 15BB stack for the remainder of my tournament;
    - at 500 / 1000 / 100 I'm playing just over 14k. Dave Whelan opens, one of the Fitz regs shoves 10BBs over it. I look down at JJ in the SB. My first instinct was to fold, before I realized that was crazy talk. Called and lost to KK;
    - got my remaining 4k in the next hand KQo vs Mick Steven's 88, 8 on the flop;

    Happy enough with how I played. Was impressed that the tournament started promptly. The whole club looks an awful lot better than it used to a year ago as a result of the renovation work. Tables and chips are much better, and the staff seem much more switched on and organized than I remember them being.

    The structure requires rungood if you are to win obv, but it's a lot more playable than it was. Good stuff all round.

    I got off to a great start when I got check raised all in from a guy 4.5K approx , on a Kd 7d 3d board (after looking back at his cards),

    I had Ks Ad, and reckoned that I had enough to be getting on with, especially against this "special" player...

    he turned over Qd 7s (;);))
    I got Aces to hold up twice, and take down a nice few pots... Up to 15K by the break, had just moved tables, and that is where it went horribly wrong.

    I pushed in the wrong spots, did a hero call with pocket 7's
    on a 5 6 K 4 board (the 4 came on the turn) to be shown 2 3 for the bottom straight,

    I ended up pushing an early position raise with J 10 for 6,100 (blinds 300,600) and running into Ronans pocket queens in the SB, meh

    Really enjoyed the tournament tonight (haven't enjoyed it much over the last few months), spotted your table Lloyd, it was a tough enough starting table, mine was fine, but then I got moved.....

    aye, you would hope for a couple of droolers. Instead, everyone knew what they were at to varying extents.

    Came ninth at about 5 am ughhh, for 600.
    I shuved AJ off with 9bbs utg and ran into AA in the sb. Maybe could have let the blinds go though me once more.

    Was short stacked after a sick beat from Jimmy shoe shine about 18th left, his A10 vs my JJ he gets runner runner "the wheel" avoiding my flush.

    It was a pretty sick night tbh, the amount of under pairs setting up was hilarious.

    In the last 4 months i've come 11th 10th and now 9th. I'm looking forward to the big 8th next month :).

    They paid 12 in the end, gave 11th and 12th their money back.

    Bad beat Joe was doing alright when I left but it was very crap shooty.

    Nope, good shove. Unlucky.

    Nice run, hard luck not to get more money out of it.

    All that and a discounted entry as well Lloyd!

    I really didn't realise that the club is frowning on people playing sit and go sats when they are unable to play the game that night. The dealers should announce this at the satellite tables imo as I only sat in whilst waiting for another cash table to start. The good news being I ran well in the ultra turbo crapshoot satellite and also managed to lucksack/tilt my way out of a €400 hole at the cash tables. Poker is easy.

    Great buzz in the club last night in fairness. Cracking action at the cash tables too.

    8th.:(

    I had just won a nice pot with a dodgy bluff on a big blind flop and got a rush of blood and pushed my A10 on Button and got called by chip leader(Joe) with 66 in BB. No help and that was it.

    It was a race but didnt need to push at all.

    Suugestiions that me showing the bluff the previous hand made him give me a call.
