    Hello there,

I am RAAMs older, shorter, very definitely heavier but equally bike-infatuated brother. This Thurday - Saturday I will be cycling the 3-day London - Paris tour (www.londres-paris.com). I was wondering if anyone else on this forum will also be doing it? If so, it would be nice to exchange details and meet over there.

Looks like a cool event, but they sure know how to charge.

Best of luck with that Aidan. Looks like you are going to have to bring along your autograph book ;)
Here's a pic of the two of us at the start of l'Epervier. Unfortunately I'm blocking a good view of the Pinarello.

(I shall be ignoring all remarks about Euro violations. I was younger and didn't know any better)

Yeah, great fun. It went well for the timed section of stage 1. Stephan Roche finished in 34th I think and Scott Sutherland in 35th. So I guess 10th place was good - the first 9 and pretty much all of the top 30 were category 1 with some Cat. 2 racers.

Stage 2 timed section was a wash out - only one of the four official groups reached it before the conditions were dangerous - we were allowed to race it but the other groups were not. Either way I was happy cos I crossed the line first with two other lads, we were 1 minutes ahead of 4th and about 9 minutes ahead of the main bunch. I count that as a win.

Stage 3: our group ride captain informed us that in the interest of getting everyone to Paris safely he would not be allowing us to race the timed section :o( still he let us sprint the last 600m - crossed the line first again :o)

Great cycle, best thing was I was told by the group captain that I should get a license and really race. He said I could survive in Cat. 2 ..... made my day.

Would recommend this ride to anyone, even though it is on the pricey side.

Well done Aidan, looks like a great event. Your name can be added to the growing list of boardsies that have beaten Stephen Roche, I think Diarmuid had the hop on you there :)

Just spotted a YooToob vid about the London Paris. Didn't spot Aidan. WARNING: The sound needs to be muted. Brutal song
