The Aftermath of MAD 2009

Personally I thought it was an excellent day with some good bands. I was particularly delighted to see homegrown talent like Elation and Emmaus perform on the big stage. They really showed that Irish worship bands are not that far behind the likes of Ben Cantelon and This Beautiful Republic. Hopefully next year we will have these guys being more than warm up acts especially at an Irish festival.

    Line Up
DONKING BREAK DANCERS: Good but no need for reprise.

ELATION: Excellent. Had the crowd singing along with them, and good variety of songs to lead people in worship.

SHELL PERRIS: Good. The message in her songs was good and appealed to the younger generation. Pity Elation or Emmaus didn't get her reprise slot.

EMMAUS: Excellent. Fantastic to see these guys back playing and leading people in worship.

L7Z: Poor. Personally I thought this group were a bad choice. They were loud and alot of people left the tent after a few mins

BEN CANTELON: Excellent. Great to see him back for a second year. Once again, he lead the crowd in good worship

JOSH & DEB WALKER: Good message and Challenging

THIS BEAUTIFUL REPUBLIC: Good. High Energy music. Not my cup of tea but people enjoyed them

Overall I enjoyed the day and so did my family. Amenities were good and there was loads to keep the kids occupied. The MAD Cafe was a good idea this year. I hope this festival keeps growing. Well done to all the organisers. I will be bring a bus load from Cork next year.

I enjoyed the day even though I didn't get to hear much of the music! I spent most of my time chatting with various people including our very own Splendour and mdebets (Hi!!), a Dominican priest and the Franciscan Friars from Moyross in Limerick. Great guys. Also had some guys ask me if I was born again and then proceeded to tell me that RCC teachings were unscriptural but I didn't bite too hard. :)

Thank God the weather was great.

Great day and was good to meet a couple of boardsies (albeit very briefly with mdebets!) Enjoyed talking with Noel not about things of a Spiritual matter but rather about things of an organic matter ie: home grown veggies! :p Enjoyed your company Noel and that of your son too, thanks.

I loved Emmaus (biased though 'cos one of our Praise & Worship guys a member :D )

I ventured tentively into the marquee when L7Z were playing (they were very loud) but wow-I had a blast! Loved them, even bought their CD which my son brought into school today-hoping that would happen!

Had seen Ben & Shell before so enjoyed the time sitting in the sun instead of listening to them.
I had to go off a bit early but apparantly the Friars were due to give a testimony and sing. Anyone hang around for that?

Great day and my luke warm kinda Christian friend loved it too...

Yes one of the brother spoke about his experience with his downhill slide into drink/drugs/casual sex etc and how his girlfriend had an abortion. Very inspiring conversion story. The also sang a few songs and got a great response. :)

BTW, it turns out one of the brothers (Columba) was a childhood friend of mine and we had a very similar spiritual path to Christ. God bless you Columba!
