I got one of those from that seller just yesterday, seems to work fine on my Sony (after a few initial teething problems that had nothing to do with the CAM itself).

    Hi

I am looking for a cam card for a series 4 samsung. What are the best cam cards available?

I was looking at a Samsung Series 4 450 42" TV yesterday and the onscreen stickers indicated that its digital tuner was compatible with the French service TNT HD, which to my knowledge is an Mpeg4 service.

Which Series 4 TV do you have?

These are NOT being used as CAMs.

But MPEG4 to MPEG2 convertors that work by faking CAM function for TV. Some may also be CAMs too.

As a result the image has extra artifacts around moving edges and it gets a lot hotter than an actual CAM.

A Setbox is better. Especially if you ever want to record.

Better still don't spend a cent till after the service launches. It's only engineering test right now.

Yes French HD TNT and also some SD pay TV on TNT are MPEG4.

On balance I'm inclined to agree with Watty. I have the Viaccess NP4 card. It does get very hot and that can impact its ability to decode the MPEG4 signal, otherwise though it works fine. If you already have an analogue signal for Irish Channels that works, then live with it. If you have a digitial LCD/Plasma screen with crappy analogue picture, then its worth considering, but it is not as good as a STB will be

    The 32A456 is mpeg2 only.
All samsung "B" series from this year are mpeg4 compatible.

Do we know what encryption standard One Vision intend to use?

Viaccess was what Boxer intended to use, but I didn't think One Vision specified in their submission.

That said, I can't realy see OneVision running DTT because of the financial state of each of the individual consortium companies. I expect RTE will be left with the pieces, in which case encryption may not be required.
