Brazil @ 5-1 for the WC must be good value. Their main rivals are Spain, England and Argentina.

Spain, are the serious contenders with Iniesta, Xavi, Villa and Torres whereas England are hype, hype and more hype whereas Arg are managed by the "genius" of Maradona.

Brazil do not need any hype and consistently get to the latter stages of every competition they play in. @ 5-1 surely they are the safest bet of all. Get on now before it goes.

Mods- do not move this please as no-one looks @ the gambling forum

Can't see past Spain to be honest.

I rate them as the best international team since France 1998-2000

I see your point, Spain after winning the EC might just have the monkey off their back. Actually the Confed Cup will tell a lot - it will be a Spain-Brazil Final and both teams will be out to win. I still question Spain's mentality when it comes to the WC though.

they are 5-1 for a reason, this isn't the strongest team to have come out of Brazil.

Their centre backs can be got at, their full backs are inconsistent and unproven, their midfield is not a patch on any of the other contenders (full of has beens like Gilberto/Kleberson and the others are unfinished articles) and upfront they don't have the clinical finishers they used have. not to mention their coach Dunga is as daft as Maradona at times.

Their shining light is Kaka, who we know could potentially pull them through the tournament single-handedly, but he himself is too inconsistent to last the full 8 games really.

But @ 5-1 they are surely the value of the tournament. Their full-backs are either gonna be Maicon or Alves - unproven? Centre-backs - Lucio and Alex? They have quality all over the pitch.

They have Kaka, Pato and Robinho upfront...................

    Moved from soccer.

OP, if you want to discuss next year's World Cup feel free to do so on the soccer forum, but don't be so blatant as to start discussing prices for the winner.

    I wouldn't go near Brazil

If Argentina got rid of maradona, they'd be the favourites in my eyes

cant believe they put a rookie in charge of one of the best international sides around

    laughable stuff

nope, imo there are so many inconsistencies about this Brazil team that it represents fair value.

Well, unproven on the left. Vulnerable defensively on the right. Both Maicon and Alves can be exploited by possession based teams like Spain, Argentina.

Lucio can launch forward and leave a lot space behind himself. Alex is good and imposing but not an intelligent defender, he can be caught out.

Kaka - utterly fantastic but inconsistent.
Pato - unproven (i'm not denying his potential, but still he'll be very young by the time the tournament comes around, it'll be a while before he'd be on the level of Torres or Villa, big ask)
Robinho - overrated and frequently wasteful at the highest level

does op know that Spain are 5/1 too
    Argentina are 6/1

atm Argentina are serious danger of not qualifying for the WC even, that's why im thinking maradona will be gone soon

Exactly Argentina might not even make it. Maradona is possibly the worst coach they could have got and they cant sack him. The guy is a God over there and sacking him would be unthinkable. Plus the Argies are very weak at the back. 6-1 is a ridiculous price.

It is between Spain and Brazil. Backing both doesnt appeal to me though as they could meet in the 1/4's or something. Take the 5-1 about Brazil as they are certainly gonna be shorter after the Group stages so you can always lay it off if youre that way inclined.

Teams are traditionally terrified of Brazil which is a huge plus whereas not so much of Spain (yet).

    actually that's not true

alot of people were moaning about his appointment in the 1st place and the local newspapers are not a fan of him coaching the National side at all

England @ 9-1 are the best price in my opinion.

They should at least reach the semis and if they do you can just imagine how short their price will go. They have one of the best coaches around in charge and probably their most complete squad in years.

England are pure hype and will get knocked out once they play a top-side. They are in a crap Group in qualifying and the last time they played a top team (last year V Spain) they were played off the park.

ya they love him but they still didnt want him to be the manager

maradona should walk before the people really start to turn

They celebrated in the streets when he was made manager like he was the new Messiah.

I agree, with hindsight, that he was the wrong choice but he will not be sacked. They only way he wont be manager is if he walks.
