Im not sure if this is the right forum, Im looking for a 70ies / 80ies two door classic like a Mark 1 Golf or Fiat 127 to be used as movie prop. The car will be modified to hold camera mounts safety features such as crash bars etc and will more than likely be damaged / written off in the making of the movie. I would prefere to purchase it outright. It must drive but body work is not important as there is nothing a bit of Isopon and fiberglass can't fix :D

    does it have to drive?

Not necessarly as long as the body shell is not too rotten to pose as a safety concern. Although no NCT test is required for action vehicles if they are to be driven "off road", they must be relatively "road worthy" as in brakes, ball joints, trottle cables etc. We don't want any unnecessary accidents with crew. An engine for a golf could be picked up very handy as I believe they didn't change much in the later models.

I'm sure anyone who genuinely feels that strongly about the destruction of a Mk1 Golf could outbid Halfdog and save the car? Talk is cheap, lads..

    +1

By the sounds of it, pity to see it go tbh. Saying that, I don't have the space nor time for it.

I didn't think the car went via auction, but I reckon I'd save it.

Knowing the old geezer that had that car, I would say he would be glad to see it appear on television. :D

Action vehicles can cost over €200 a day to hire so a few k would not go astray for the right model if it was needed as a key prop in a movie series.

I'm that guy, I've been trying to find a mk1 Golf Diesel to replace my '93 Corolla with as daily driver. The fact that it now has no engine isn't a problem, I have the choice of a 200k mile 1.6TD or a 70k mile 1.9D VW engines, I just broke two manky 1990's VAGs last week to salvage the engines from for when I can locate a half-decent mk1 Golf.

I would hate to see it destroyed for 30 seconds of a movie scene. In fact, I would be willing to offer my Corolla to the movie in it's place but it's probably too modern...

I've PM'd Dutchcat, hopefully he'll find in my favour ;)

    fingers crossed...
