I'm a Gaelic Football man traditionally but i have to say that hurling really does piss all over Gaelic Football as a sport. I went to the Galway Kilkenny game and was blown away by the speed and skill of the game. Dublin Wexford was very exciting to watch and even though Tipp Clare looked like it had trashing written all over it after 10 minutes it wasn't over till the final whistle blew.
Compare that to what we are witnessing in Gaelic Football this year. To be frank all of the games so far have been pure boring with the exception of the Cork Kerry games. The standard has been terrible and the backdoor system has taken the spark out of the provincial games, bar maybe the finals.
With Dublin hurling on the way up and Galway and Clare suprising a few people i sincerly hope another renaissance for hurling is around the corner.
The sooner it becomes the most widely followed and played Gaa sport the better in my opinion.

I'm a hurling man myself, and I'm not one to gloat but yeah, you've basically hit the nail on the head there. It's a commonly held opinion among hurling people.

The problem in my own county (Clare)is that clubs which have a great pedigree in hurling have lately switched to playing football as an easy way to win county championships. So you have Wolfe Tones and Doora Barefield (the clubs which produced Brian Lohan and Seanie McMahon, the two greatest Clare hurlers ever and easily two of the greatest ever) quite weak at hurling underage and far more successful at football. This is a worrying trend in my opinion.
