Well I used to drive the renault trafic (same van) and after running her dry one day I had to replace the injectors. Might have been a massive co-incidence that they went right at the same time, mechanic couldn't say for sure, but after paying nearly a grand to replace them I never did let her get so empty again!

shouldnt really be a problem.Just make sure you get the diesel/fuel filter replaced fairly regulary. Also make sure you dont use "questionable" diesel if you know what I mean

thanks for replies.i'll try to get into habit of keeping fuel level up(i'm aware this costs nothing!).how would i know if there was a potential problem down the tracks(pumps and injectors) before warranty expires and are there any worthwhile fuel additives? thanks

any new vehicle should shut off the fuel pump when it runs dry to prevent damage. if not, there'd be some warning in the manual.... which you have checked first right....

It doesnt have to run completely dry to kick up dirt.
