Does anyone know how to access the census going back to 1926, I've tried the site and can only get the 1911 census, would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

The census post 1911 is subject to a 100 year rule so it will not be available to the public until 1st Jan 2027, and every 10 years thereafter another will be released. There is a campaign to get the 1926 released earlier since we have a 15 year gap (busy with independence in 1921!) but I can't see the State allocating the extra funds necessary during a recession to satisfy a bunch of genealogists' curiosity. In fact, we only have the 1901/1911 because Charlie Haughey as a junior minister got the rule changed to a 50 year rule in light of the complete lack of 19th century data!

If you are trying to find someone in the mid 20s there are a couple of ways to go about it though: electoral registers, trade directories like Thoms, there also would have been nascent telephone directories then but only the wealthy would have had it.
