    Depends on what kind of "asian" you want.

    There is a bengali store in Westside, near Aldi, there is a chinese store in middle street, an indian store near the marriot.

    There is an Afro-Caribean/Filipino store on prospest hill..

    I think I got the comprehensive list in this thread

    Bombay Bazaar is great, btw. Bag of yellow split peas for a couple euro + some onions and salt = nourishing soup that will feed an army for pennies

    It's not liquified! It's got texture.

    Split Pea Soup
    Serves 8
    • 500 g split yellow peas
    • 2 large onions, diced
    • 3-4 cloves garlic, pressed (optional)
    • 1 or 2 knorr bullion cubes (usually use chicken)
    • 5 cups water

    1. pick over and rinse peas well
    2. combine in pot with onion, garlic, stock cubes and water.
    3. bring to boil, cover and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour (until peas are tender) stirring occaisionally and watching to make sure it doesn't need more water.
    4. blend, or, if you're like me and you a) like a more textured soup and b) don't like washing out the blender, use a potato masher
    5. add more water or salt if necessary (be careful and add both in small quantities of course)


    It really is lovely. Also, you can add diced ham, which would make Quebec's national dish... just in time for La Fête Nationale on the 24th of June ;)

    I was wagering it would be a brothy type soup as opposed to a soupy soup :)

    Have been to the Quebec region of Canada a few times and the broths are amazing!!! As is the area itself in general :)

    I guess that depends on how poor you are! I never thought I would look forward to porridge in the mornings either ...

    stick a sliced up banana into the porridge before microwaving it.

    Thank you kindly. I now know what to make for dinner tomorrow. :) I'm going to the dentist so this is perfect.
