    hey all..

im curious about how much an Irish sports star would charge to open a new shop in Dublin?
ofcourse it can be offseason and when they are about.. but are we talkin €5,000 or €50,000?

obviously there are stars more marketable than others..

the upper end of the scale probably has the likes of Robbie Keane & Padriag Harrington, Brian O'Driscol

below that you might have Niall Quinn, Stephen Hunt, Shane Lowry or Bernard Dunne..

anyway, Im just trying to get a general insight, if anyone has any clue..
I wont need to ask for one of these guys for many months.

I know some of the munster Rugby Team were charging about €5k upwards
last year after they won the Heineken Cup but it depends on their status within the team also.

Your best bet if its local is the local hurling or football star if any.

If you want to go top dollar I'd advise contacting these guys management companies to get some indication of prices however I would like to bet that even in this climate their prices would have to come down also.

Lastly if you want a top star be wary to book them 6 months minimum in advance as you can imagine their schedule is booked that far ahead.

I would try and use your contacts locally to get this done. There is at least some chance that the personalities involved would like to be supportive.

The price they will charge will depend on the context as much as anything else. If you are opening a small shop, it's very different from opening a giant warehouse store. At least it should be. Don't blow all your money on this!

You'd still have to spend alot in publicising the Star is going to be there. Why not spend what you would have spent on the star on more advertising or special offers, giveaways etc.

Why not get some media coverage and have a local sports person to donate some kit to a local team? Like you pay for it, get your name out in the papers, the sports person will hopefully reduce/axe their fee cos they're giving back to the community, you get instant advertisements and ongoing good will...

    Just a tthought!
