which site would have a more 'mature' crowd? im pretty much a newbie and planning on heading to one of the greater dublin sites tomorrow. would just prefer a 20-ish crowd (18+ anyway).

id like to play airsoft, but not soldiers.

all due respect to the young guns out there.

I haven't noticed a trend, after visiting pretty much all of the dublin sites. You'll get pretty much every age group.

    sigh...

Well any site the age group is usually 18+ anyway..

    must,
    Not,
    Say,

    any more!

Unfortunately for you mate the age ranges from 14+ so it will be very rare when you are on a site that there is all adults and no youngsters ,Airsoft sites make there some of there money from young teenagers as the majority of airsofters in this country are children/teenagers.
If you dont mind my asking as a teenager ,why dont you want to skirmish with airsofters of a younger age?

Well don't judge all teenagers and think they do it just for messing (am guessing that's why you don't want to skirmish with teens)?.. I love playing milsim and love my tactics .. No messing around for me.

    Hay man
i'm still waiting to see why you dont want to skirmish with younger airsofters???

Well it is clearly because, we as teenagers, have much more energy and he/she wouldn't be able to keep up, no?
Or that person thinks younger airsofters (teenagers) cheat (we don't, well most of us don't).
Or, this person would just rather play with adults?
While the OP would like to play with airsofters of his/her age, it is highly unlikely that they will go to a skirmish where there are not younger airsofters,
afterall there is probably more young players than older players.
    My 2 cents...

    lads,
its just the OP personal prefernce as to who he wants to play with
iam pretty sure theres those you might not want to play with and at the same time just tar them with one brush,(no offence intended Op, just an example)

But tbh, as for the sites ive visited they all seem to have mixed group of player regarding age. Unless you were to arrange an Oldies day:D

That's not true. The majority of airsofters in this country are adults, there is a growing number of children/teenagers, and I've no doubt that some day there will be more young guns on the field than adults but in over 2 years of airsofting I've yet to see a day where there's more people under the age of 18 at a skirmish than there is people of the 18+ age group.

Personally I have no problem with young guns, most I've met have been good players, honest, and above all they're the future of the sport. They don't outnumber adult players just yet though.

It is entirely possible though that the OP has no problem with young guns as players but would just prefer to play with people his own age group. Some people might think it's a bit odd for a grown ass man to be out playing with kids all day and would prefer not to. Perhaps the OP just has a moral issue with shooting kids, or it could be the realism factor, aside from africa, child soldiers are not all that common on the battlefield so maybe he'd just like to play with a bunch of people who are actually old enough to go to war, who knows.

Unfortunately for the OP as has been mentioned there is no site that I'm aware of that doesn't get a healthy mix of players of all ages. I think you'd probably find that the majority of players are in the 19 - 30 age bracket (trying to remember from a Poll that was done here a while back) but you really do get players of all ages.

Certainly, and many sports are divided into junior leagues and seniors.

Anyway if its always mixed then so be it. I think some may play paintball for this same reason.

Its not really a MAJOR thing for me, just a preference.

Anyone taking issue see the bit where i say no offence younger players.

I'm a total noob to Airsoft and i have to say I can see where the OP is coming from. For me personally (28) I just think it'd be a bit weird running around a field or a warehouse with a bunch of kids (<18) especially being the noob and them being experts.

Its hard enough to walk up to a bunch of people on a site, when they all no each other already and you're trying to introduce yourself, take in the rules, go through equipement etc. All ths with the thought that you are twce as old as some of the others there, and are potentially the oldest person there.

Perhaps the OP would just like to walk into somewhere, where he is amongst his peers. trying to become part of a group where you are already potentially singled out is very daunting. He might find trying to become part of a more mature group that he feels comfortable with, a lot easier. Its not a form of agesim, just natural I suppose.

Another thing is that Airsoft by its very nature s very much based on imagination and convincing yourself that its real (or at least it would be for me) and possible he might find that playing Airsoft with a more mature crowd might help him enjoy the game moreso.

OP. This thread contains a census of many players on this site so it might give you an idea of the age group of some of the regular Airsofters you read here on this site.

I'm 33 and want to get in to airsoft... if I turn up, will everyone be looking at the wierd old guy??? :-) Or will I find at least a couple of people in my age range?

You'll probably find a fair few in your age range, and even if you don't nobody will be looking at ya funny. I mean we're running around dressed up as soldiers, playing with toy guns, not really the best position to start being judgemental about things. The main thing is that you get out and enjoy yourself, once you do that, you'll fit right in, reardless of what age ya are.

I'm pushing 30, and a lot of the lads that I play with at SEAC are as old or older. Usually one or two will be 18 or slightly younger.

I can pretty much guarantee that any Irish airsoft site you walk onto will be more than welcoming to a new player. No matter what age. It doesn't matter if you are in your 40's or 50's, you will still get a good welcome. You dont need to be particularly agile, it just helps.

Once you are out on the field age doesnt factor into it.

Where and when are you going to go to CapedCrusader?

Will be in a couple of week's time, should have my gear by then.

Edit: Thinking of either or both of the Warehouse and HRTA. Living in North Co. Wicklow, so both of these seem closest.

If ya want, send me a PM when you are going and I'll make my maiden skirmish that day too. I've never been and like I was worrying that 28 might seem a bit past it, but it'd feel a lot easier knowing there were two of us make the trip.

I'm also getting gear togther and hopefully will have it in a couple of weeks

Age doesn't matter at all. I hit 30 this year and I'm playing with lads on the hawks ranging from 17 to (whatever ancient age Rogue-Trooper and Shiva are).
