I graduated from rec man in May 2008 after 4 years in WIT and I have to say it is one hard course!

People thinks since its a sporty course...all we do is just run around an athletics track 24/7 but that aint us! that's exercise and health! lol ha only jokin

The perception of the course is that it is "handy" and I assure you its the opposite.

For that reason, I think the lecturers make it much harder than it should be and I will even go to the extent of saying in some subjects..they mark very harsh.

    Does anyone agree with me?

Could be controversial, but the reputation it has of being "handy" serves to attract those who aren't of a certain academic ability.

    Hi AdMMM,

"Could be controversial, but the reputation it has of being "handy" serves to attract those who aren't of a certain academic ability."

Very true..I couldn't agree with you more 2bhbut from my experience subjects like accounting, economics, sociology and behavioral science are not handy. But I just feel that the expectations are deliberately set higher because of its reputation.

Like i remember in 1st year there must have been like 120 students and by 4th year there were only about 40. But i guess it still has its advantages..I was close 2 getting a 1.1 for my 4th year and managed 2 get into the m.b.s in marketing.

Thats a lot of immature crap in all honesty. Who is giving the impression that its handy, the prospectus? Or naive leaving cert students who dont do enough research. Its an academic degree course in a sports area, not a contract to play sport for four years. Who is going to be employable after that?
You should be glad that it has a heavy academic element and gives you knowledge and skills in a wide range of areas and access to a range of postgrads.

Expecting people to do assignments + pass theory and practical exams is hardly expecting too much to get a degree  It is typical of latter day students though who expect achieving anything to be spoon fed to them.
