I really don't know how to go about this. Heard of a few people going abroad to Africa and helping out with kids and families over there. Can't get a job this Summer so I would like to do something along the lines of that.

There is loads of information about volunteering at the Volunteer Ireland site. What you are talking about with Africa is probably either the Niall Mellon Trust or Habitat for Humanity, both great charities - but they involve a lot of fundraising! I think currently you have to raise €2,000 for Niall Mellon and €2,800 for Habitat if you want to go abroad.

    That is good idea.
You can come volunteer to teach our poor impoverished kids that we have on our Samarpan Nepal Kids family.

But this is in Nepal. Actually we need some volunteers now in coming days to teach them. We can provide short to long duration commitment.

    Hey,

Volunteering's definitely a great idea - I had an awesome time when I went to South Africa to do community work with kids near Cape Town last summer. Was really, really easy to sort out - went with a company called i-to-i (www.i-to-i.com). They had loads of trips all over the world, but I ended up picking SA because I wanted to go on safari afterwards. That was pretty cool too!

    Good luck!
