Yep, Awesome Sauce. Reason is (as i've said before) - unbreakable. I have very few doubts that Record will be problematic - and hopefully bridge that gap for creative track smack downs.

Also, what a great app to get into schools - everything right there they need.

Do you think lack of VST support again will be an issue? Personally I've been trying out a few DAWs recently and I can't seem to click or become comfortable with any of them and that in turn is killing my creativity. I always found Reason good for creative flow to get things going but it is somewhat lacking for end product. So maybe Record will be an option for me, but I'll still have to use Reaper or Cubase to use my VST synths.

I think that once you take yourself away from the vst scenario then reason comes into it's own - the program wouldn't be stable also due to third party software, and then the whole schools situation is out of the window.

With the recording part - we can only hope it's easy to drag drop audio in there from other vst host :)

people always saw logic is the second runner to protools but id say as this develops this very well could be.Given a few years this could advance to the industry standard in the same way digidesign protools started as drum sounds and has developed into the hd beast we have today.

hmm i dont really think so.its 2009 and there only introducing this now.hardly forward thinking in fairness.
itll help reason users out i guess but i cant still imagine why they wont do vst support.its baffling

this will never come near protools, as for reason - audio engine is balls,it has a quite noticeable sound associated to it,its not a natural sound, which for me and many others is a big problem, not as big as being able to record your hardware into it too, vsts suck balls too!rant over

Did you even watch the video :) SSL strip in there :) - and looks like you'll be able to record audio (hopefully not just a mic)

3rd party code... basically if someones code isn't optimal and you end up with a memory leak and such... then the DAW crashes because of it. The idea behind reason (and a bit like Macs) is that if you control the situation and stick with a known quantity that you can stop those pesky crashes.

As a guitar player this looks incredible. Always been a fan of Reason but lost interest after 2.0 after problems linking it to Audition.

As an avid R4 user this is will be a nice step/progression in the right direction. Roll on R5 though.

I was hoping it was gonna to be reason with a record feature. Is it or isn't it?

Being an SSL man myself I got to say it looks like you could get a decent sound out of it. I'm supposing they were in there somewhere since the channels and buss compressor bear more than a passing resemblance to one.

    too little too late imo

reason cant really compete with daws, so theres little point trying to start now. its a fantastic piece of kit, dont get me wrong, but i think anyone who uses it is rewiring anyway

If it's as simple to use as Reason it'll be a hit. Propellorheads already have a huge name through Reason so they won't be starting from scratch either.
