As a lot of mechanics and garages go hot and cold over time, and rather than ask for recommendations at different intervals, is there any (irish) mechanics equivalent of rateyoursolicitor.com

A quick search gave nill results, so does any such site exsist?

I actually considered setting this up, was very close to doing so until I realised that I really didn't want to deal with the possible legal backslash..

Legally it could be dodgy alright, but it would be a fantasic service if it were out there.

You'd have to take it with a pinch of salt though. If I get a satisfactory service from a mechanic, I'm not going to search online for a site where I can leave a review saying I had no problems. I'd say it could mostly attract people looking to rant.

I wouldn't contribute to a site like this or look at it because anyone could write anything and you and the site owner could be held liable!

Yep, that would put me right off as well.

There used to be one called www.bestgarages.ie, but it seems to have gone offline.

Looks like there was either not enough usage, or a legal minefield.
