Need advice : 04 Ford Mondeo - Diesel - 2 owners - 65,000miles, 4 brand new tyres - 1yr warranty and road side assistance - nct 03/10 but if anything needs to be done it will be covered in the warranty. Price was 9000 got him down to 7900 that is as far as he will go. Does this seem like a good deal???

That seems a fair bit on the high side from what i've seen. I've been looking at mondeo diesels among others and although the mileage is low, its still on the steep side.

    Thats just a quick example.

+1, I would have thought around €6000 - 7000 would buy that car.

It's the warranty and roadside assistance for the year that was making me think it was good - if i bought it privately i wouldnt have that. Its so hard buying a car.

As far as I see it, if you like the car, it's clean, the colour is right, etc. etc. etc. and you are happy to have a years free driving, an extra €500 for one higher digit on the reg plate should be irrelevant.

Sounds like good value to me tbh.

Edit: Just saw it's a 04, I thought you said 05 for some reason. Seems a bit high in that case.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

It's a bit pricey, but it does have a full one years warranty and effectively an NCT until 03/12

Does seem steep...especially when compared to this one with a little more mileage

Looks like a good price, but for the signage behind the car!! Its 2 pieces of 2*2 and a cloth sign 1/2 stapled to it! :)

True...but I'd sooner pay a fair price for a motor rather than pay over the odds so that the dealers can erect an all singing and dancing, neon lit fancy sign.;)

    @ eyesofvenus.....that price doesn't include VRT...although it's probably not that high anyhow.

    VRT is 24% correct?
So is that 24% of selling price or of open market selling price??

It's 24% of what the VRO value the car at, not what ome pays for it.

Back to the OT. 64k miles on a 5 year old diesel is very low mileage to me. I would definately want to see evidence via a verified service history that this mileage is genuine.

avoid LX (or LX steel) model diesels, go for a Zetec, low hp diesel is painful on the Mondeo.

They're guaranteeing that the car which is currently 5 years old will pass the NCT in March 2010? Sounds a bit strange to me. NCT fails are often wear an tear items that would generally not be covered by a warranty. Make sure to check the terms and conditions of your warranty, get it in writing etc.
