Magpies / Air Rifles

    Hi folks
I'm not really into hunting and wouldn't consider killing unless for food but I have an issue with Magpies.
They have figured out how to get into my chicken house. Firstly they are helping themselves to a free meal all day long but this week they found the eggs and destroyed them. We actually sell our eggs to fund the cost of the Chicken food so I can't have this going on. Also the Magpies are causing the hens to stress out and upset them.

So I was thinking about an Air Rifle. I don't know much about this. Do you need a licence? I really can't be bothered if you do just for an air rifle.
Where can you buy one? What would be the best type for this job and is this going to cost much?

    Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

I was askin about this recently. You do need a licence like any other gun but also its illegal to shoot any bird protected or not, wit an air rifle. I thought it was allowed but its not. Your best bet would be a larson trap. There is a thread here somewhere about them.
