    Hello all.

Sorry if this question has been asked before but i've been searching through the discussions and allI could find was Italy and Belgium! Isn't there a difference between the power in US compared to the power output here in Western Europe? How do the models compare with this in mind? I'm heading to the US later this year and am considering opurchasing one of these devices while i'm there if the value is good! Anyone got any comments or tips??!!

    Thanks in advance.

    Jamie.

No differences in the power - I purchased my 1st Gen iPhone in the US last year and use it here without problems (as can be said for pretty much most mobile phones).

However, you are no longer able to purchase an iPhone without a 2 year contract in the US.

If you are going to the trouble of buying an iPhone abroad (presumably for use with an Irish network, don't buy in the US unless you fully understand what is required to make the phone work in Ireland.

I bought my current ipod in the US (80GB Classic) and it works fine over here. Afaik the models are the same worldwide, and seeing as how Apple doesn't include a mains charger with ipods anymore (it's all done by USB now) there are no real power difference considerations.

The touch should be the same, but imho buying an iphone in the us for use here seems like more trouble than it's worth.

There are no issues with buying regular iPods' in the States, they are exactly the same as here, no problems with power or whatever (sure they don't even supply a power adapter anyhow).
However as others have said, buying an iPhone over there is a whole other kettle of fish and seems more trouble than its worth to me.

oh - watch out for the sales tax, depending on what city / state you're in... what seems like a good bargain can suddenly look not-so-good when a 8-10% tax is added on!
