Can't do Saturday, so planning to do a four hour spin on Sunday morning, starting around 6am.

Joe Bastardi says there might be a brief shower, nothing major.

I'm starting from Clonsilla, going through Chapelizod, Ballyfermot, down R112 to Dundrum or Edmonstown Rd/Stocking Lane, up to Sally Gap and back via Saggart, but happy to vary route within the 4hr limit (home by 10am).

    Comfortable pace, no cake stops.

    Anyone else?

    6AM ... ouch ...

You have to choose between kids and your cycling career ...

Honestly .. have you thought about putting them up for adoption ... :)

I will let you know depending on where tomorrow's spin leads us ... I might not be a suitable candidate for 2 days in a row in the mountains of wicklow.

If you don't need lights when you leave the house, it's not early. :)

We should actually organise a boards creche.

Hi Lumen, Depending on how Saturday goes I might hook up with you for the Dundrum - Saggart bit. I've the same problem - Kids ! Have you an ETA and location in the Dundrum/Edmondstown area ? Can you PM me your mobile, I'll do the same.

I normally go via the Luas bridge in Dundrum (which is about 45 mins from home), but if we were to do Edmondstown/Stocking Lane we could meet somewhere else.

    I'm easy.

    PM sent.

Definitely like the idea in principle, but can't this weekend as the missus and nipper return after a month away.

I like the route too, I'd probably tack on around Dundrum/Stocking Lane.

    Earmarked for future reference.

Have entered negotiations at home. I live in D7 so could meet you as you pass through Chapelizod. Assuming you're leaving at 6, would you be there for 6.20ish?

Cool. Yes, Chapelizod would be about 6.15 - 6.20.

OK, so we currently have (in addition to me):

    LastGasp & waitforme, 6:45 @ Dundrum
    rflynnr, 6:15-06:20 @ Chapelizod (unconfirmed)

This could be my chance to break my Boards' duck. I would be on for an early start. Leaving from D9 so I can either hook up with rflynnr or go to Chapelizod for 6.15. In the event that I don't hear back from rflynnr, where precisely in C'zod is meeting point? Thanks.

Great. I'm thinking on the bridge across towards Ballyfermot. I've never stopped to take in the view before.

    I'll be there from 06:15-06:20.

I'll PM my mobile number also.

Unfortunately it seems I'm out. In an uncharactistic occurence my OH forgot to inform me that she's off out tonight (Saturday) and won't be back till the early hours. As a consequence she'll be in no fit state to deal with kids till mid-morning which means I need to be around till 10am anyway. Apologies for the late notice on this. Enjoy the ride.

Well, I am up and raring to go, got some fecking Happy Clappers singing upstairs since about 3am, so I've been up for hours Grrrr!!!

    See you at Dundrum

Ridiculously early start, steep hills, minimum visibility, it was cold and it rained, but I thoroughly enjoyed today's spin. I think there's something wrong with me!

Oh yeah and it was windy!

Great spin. Perverse sense of satisfaction being out at 6 am, although in truth it looks as though it was the best of the day weatherwise. Thanks to Lumen for making the call and to all for waiting as I yo-yoed off the back of the group!

If there's another one like this next weekend I'm up for it. I spent all of yesterday (and a chunk of today tbh) recovering from an almighty hangover as a result of a friend's 40th on Friday night. College reunions are bad for the liver.:o I guess I played my fathers day card early;)

Very enjoyable spin despite the weather, thanks to all for the company. Thankfully as I was starting from Dundrum I only had to get up at 6, start at 7 - much more civilised. I must be getting used to the hills, best average speed on any hilly spin (still only 23.5kph, but what the hell). Thanks Lumen for pushing/dragging us along. Great to be home and showered by 10.30am ! Kids were still in their PJ's.

Crap weather, didn't matter. A good day, thanks for the company!

Passing that fell-running nutjob at Sally Gap crossroads about 9am was quite humbling.

My genius plan to be back by 10ish was somewhat compromised by needing a 2 hour "professional nap" after brunch. Maybe I should speak to Boonen about post-training recovery strategies.

Looking forward to the next one :)
