Scart/AV funnyness

    Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the best forum but anyway, I'm trying to connect a little surveillance camera to a little display screen. The camera has a non detachable scart lead coming from it and this is the only way to connect it to anything else, the screen I have only has a 3.5 av input which I have a cable with a 3.5 head and then 3RCA red, white and yellow plugs. So I have that cable plugged into a scart connector, which is connected to a female to female scart plug, and then the camera scart plugged into the other female. This works, however, I can only see the picture if I plug out the red plug and touch the tip of it off the outer metal bit on the red female plug.

Any ideas why this is and also, is there any way I can just cut some cables and make the scart connect direct to the 3.5 jack without having all the scart stuff in between?

    Any feedback appreciated :)
