Im looking to do an evening course but with work it doesnt suit me.....

Have noticed Fas run online courses(e-courses), was thinking about doing manual accounts and payroll and the fee was quite low (85 euro).

Has anyone done an online course with FAS???

How much are the FETAC exam fees???

How exactly does the course work???

    all comments welcome....

I am currently doing the CIW fas foundations e-college course.

I'll try my best to see if i can answer a few questions :)

Hmm, lets see. The basics i'll start with.
If you are unemployed and on the social welfare the course is free. however you will need to pay for the exam fees. I've heard (but dont quote me) the average exam fee is around 120 (usually around the same as the course!) again dont quote me.
Of course if you are working you have to pay for both the cost of the course and exam fee

(Of course when you decided, IF you decided to take the exam. Only then will you have to pay the exam fee)

as for the course its self... what its like. Imagine watching a page where you move from screen to screen and you see text and images and you hear a voice read out the text (the text you see on screen) and then when your ready to click "next" to the next page you do so. Once every few pages you have to move or click which answer is right (when i say "move" like you drop and drag the corrent answer in a box. its all multiple choice)

Now this is my honest opinion about my course... this does not necessary reflect your course but this whole online learning is a bit stupid. with my course it feels like you are already meant to know what is being thought to you. I dont think you can beat hands on teaching. But within saying that online training is a great way to learn in your past time, even if it takes you 6 months. which nothing beats that.

I say try the course and see what its like. If its not for you, well you know what, thats X amount of money you spent on at least trying to improve yourself rather than p***ing it against the wall :)

Thanks mobilecore... you've kinda just confirmed what i thought that hands on teaching would be better - especially for something like bookkeeping which is what i want to do...
