This has rightly pee'd me off. The clubs and athletes who try take this competition serious have again been shown contempt. Its a competition that fosters a club atmosphere and so many people have been waiting firstly to see how their club got on relevant to their own venue and also relevant to the overall division. Its not that difficult to compile and could be done on an excel spreadsheet in 5 mins, literally, I have done it in the past. Anger and frustration. 5 days late.

While some improvements have been made with the AAI over the last two or three years some things will never change and the fact is common sense does not always prevail with them

Not being cheeky - but what is the 'National League'?

It is a club competition by which each club enters an athlete in each discipline. Points are given to top eight in each discipline and are added up in a club league format. There are few divisions and clubs are promoted/ relegated each year depending on their position. Done over 2 rounds and top 8 go through to a final day where promotion is decided

I'm usually very positive on these things but this has me fuming.

I could write all day on this but it would serve no purpose.

Its easily fixed though and again I could write all day on that too but suffice to say having the right people involved is the key.

Still no results, a bit of a joke really. Like some clubs are desperate to find out how the other groups got on and how many points they got in there group. And to just measure how they wud have done against other teams. Every year they are very poor getting the league results up. I member 2 years ago they only put on pools results up and the other one didnt get any results

I know some clubs have difficulty to get their top athletes to compete in the National League because they do not perceive this as a priority event. Lack of results publication indicates that AAI does not either.

Anyone know when the team list for wach venue for round two will be up. Hopefully not as slow as the results but i wouldnt hold my breath

    Its between Athlone or Santry
Im hoping that the most of the dublin teams are in santry because it was a bit of a trek to go up to antrim. But sure Athlone isnt that far either.
Going back bout results, Leevales results are good but im looking for Divison 1 men both pools. Disaster!!!

Dead right. The competition in principle is a great one and even despite some major issues with current format it really can get a 'club' atmosphere going. I sent a proposal to AAI a couple of years ago about the National League. Put a fair bit of work into it and was presented in a professional format etc. It may not have been the answer but I never even got a response.

Might freshen it up and send on again!

If the league was revamped it could be great. I love the league and there are few better feelings than the moment when all the 4 x 4's are lining up near the startline at the end of the day, milling around waiting for their race - sprinters, jumpers and distance runners making up the numbers just to get a few points for their club, brilliant! You get home sunday night to see did your 12m discus and those 4 points prove crucial but have to wait until next week to find out:eek:

Contact AAI, they may have them but aren't releasing. I'm guessing you are with the Tallaghfornians - if so, you boys did well I'd say especially getting Leghio, Connolly, Fitzp to compete after the BMC the night before. Thats club spirit and what the league is all about:cool:

Yeah I run from tallaght. And yeah it was great having some of the lads back, but they were all tired. But came away with full points. It was a good day for us not a great day. Field events is our problem but we have a few more weeks to improve.

And yeah there is nothing more exciting then the 4x4 at the end of the day, even if u havent a shot of winning, even if your team isnt great, and even if u have done 3 or 4 events... its pretty exciting indeed.

I have to say the leagues are pretty good, but they arent considered highly enough. Its a pitty the clubs cant get all there top athletes back for it. But saying that then our team wouldnt have a shot.

You have a pretty decent quarter miler to add to the team also;)

In the perfect world we would have a great team. But getting everyone fit, healthy, and available has been something our club has had a problem with. Grego has bigger fish to fry

But there are alot of other clubs that are in the same position as us. Hopefully we get to the final and that mite convince everyone to run

You are right about the league it has badly needed a shot in the arm for years yet like many AAI competitions, remains so stale . It is impossible to get the top athletes even remotely interested and the European Final is not much shakes either to be honest.

However with a bit of imagination the League (and many competitions)could be revitilised BUT the AAI have their own intenral wrangles on their plate at the moment to be worrying about things like athletic strategy....

Cheers for that, the overall points is the most important part.

Any insight into the individual results?
